Individual psychotherapy

Individual therapy involves weekly one-on-one sessions. I will provide a safe, caring and confidential space where we can work on any challenges you may be facing, difficult memories, life transitions, or needs you may want to discuss. We will explore and process your feelings, beliefs and behaviors. We will set goals that will meet your needs and foster personal growth. Individual therapy is also geared for those dealing with depression, anxiety, or trauma. Therapy will help you identify symptoms, triggers, and coping strategies. Interventions that are used include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, strength based and person centered, and crisis intervention. Length of treatment can be short term (6-8 weeks) to a longer term (several months). This will depend on your needs and ultimate goals.

It is also used for those facing life transitions. Sessions tend to be short term (6-8 weeks). However, number of sessions will ultimately be based on individual needs and goals. Interventions include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, interpersonal, strength based and person centered, and crisis intervention as well as systems based therapy.

adolescent Psychotherapy

Similar to individual therapy, adolescent counseling involves one-on-one sessions catered to the individual’s needs. Sessions are tailored to the appropriate developmental life stage and psychosocial factors. Some issues that may be dealt with during adolescent counseling are self-esteem issues, oppositional behaviors, conflicts with peers, and academic problems. Weekly check-ins with guardians and family sessions are also required. Additionally, collaboration with the adolescent’s school, while adhering to all HIPAA and confidentiality laws, is essential for treatment. This collaboration will allow everyone to work effectively with the adolescent, which will create a synchronous environment. As the old proverb says: “It takes a village to raise a child.”
Interventions include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, interpersonal, strength based and person centered, crisis intervention, systems based therapy, and play therapy.
